Can I retract permission for credit checks by Dish Network?

Ravi S asked:

I signed up with Dish Network about 3 weeks ago on a 18 month contract. I got a letter from them this week indicating that they have denied my request for programming upgrade because of adverse information in my credit report from TranUnion.

It turned out that there was no adverse information in my credit report. Dish Network rep I talked to said that they haven’t denied anything and the letter may have been generated by a “computer glitch”.

I want to prevent such glitches in the future (I paid $10 this time to get immediate online access to my credit report). There is a clause in the dish network contract which permits them to run credit checks as they please. Is there some way I can retract that permission?

Are there any real free credit reports online? All of the others say they are free but they are really not?

te-te asked:

They say they are free but they want you to type in your credit card number to continue on.

Can you change your own credit report?

XtremlyME asked:

My best friend says her sister-in-law went online and actually changed items on her credit report. I told my friend that this was impossible and illegal but she thinks her sis-in-law did it. Can you really get away with this? Thanks
